Opening a bank account in Siem Reap

When planning to live and work in Siem Reap you probably also want to open a bank account. There are many different banks available in town, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. So it's recommended to do some research before committing to one.    

Requirements to open a bank account

Most of the banks will ask you for the following documents before you can open an account. 

• International passport 
• Business visa valid for atleast 6 month
• Working contract or business licence (not required for all banks, example Canadia bank doesn't ask this)
• The bank will ask you to deposit a minimum amount on the account (most of the time around US$ 100, but it depends on the bank policy)

The banks in Siem Reap will offer and provide you with the same services you are used to at home. You can also get a free ATM card in most of the banks. For credit cards which can be used online they will charge you a fee depending on the banks policy.
