Sala Baï Hotel and Restaurant School was launched in 2002 by the French NGO Agir Pour le Cambodge (APLC) to fight poverty and human trafficking through social and professional training of young underprivileged Cambodians.
Sala Baï’s training restaurant is open to the public. This enables students to develop their skills and gain experience in a real work environment. All meals are prepared and served by the students. The restaurant is located along Siem Reap’s riverside just 5min away from Old Market by tuk tuk.
You can visit the restaurant for breakfast (7am – 9am on weekdays, 7.30am – 9.30am on weekends) and lunch (12pm – 2pm on weekdays). Special events during the weekend or private dinners can be organized on request. One lunch costs 12 USD, which is the equivalent of the daily cost to train one student.
The training hotel consists of 6 rooms, each fully equipped with AC and fan, bathroom with separate toilet, mini bar, coffee and tea, wardrobe facilities and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast is included in the price of the room as well.
Depending on the time of year and the students’ training program, customers can also enjoy a treatment at the spa, where the Beauty Therapy students train on a daily basis.
It’s important to note that the hotel is opened from mid-October until mid-July. It is closed for two weeks during Khmer New Year in April.
