Welcome to October’s edition of our monthly events roundup! Each month, we’ll be sharing the best Siem Reap events in our magazine. So check back regularly or subscribe to our Facebook page to get the latest updates about upcoming events in town!

As usual, we start with listing this month’s public holidays:

  • Sunday October 15: Commemoration Day of King’s Father, Norodom Sihanouk who passed away exactly 5 years ago on October 15, 2012.
  • Monday, October 23: Anniversary of the Paris Peace Accord
  • Sunday, October 29: King Norodom Sihamoni Coronation Day

October brings us also a full and varied social calendar, with a huge number of events taking place in town. Unfortunately, we can’t list them all, but here is our selection!

October 4 – Launch of A.Lanka Design Jewelry Brand

Launch of A.Lanka Design Jewelry Brand in Siem Reap

A.Lanka Design is a jewelry brand created by Alice Varini, a young French designer who used to work for Swarovski, Artisans d’Angkor and currently, Morganne Bello. This event is hosted by Mademoiselle Thyda, the new trendy shop of Cambodian fine food souvenirs in Kandal Village. Come along and enjoy a special discount of 15% on the presented jewels and on the whole range of Mademoiselle Thyda products (Spices, teas, coffees,…). Tasty food will accompany your visit.

October 7 – Days In Orbit live concert

Days In Orbit live concert Siem Reap

Days In Orbit will bring a mix of trippy world electro music to the Harbour on Saturday October 7. It will be their only live show in Cambodia, so don’t miss out if you are a fan of the genre!

October 7 & 8 – Warehouse cleaning at Khmer Ceramics & fine arts center

Warehouse cleaning at Khmer Ceramics & fine arts center

Khmer Ceramics’ warehouse cleanings are already famous amongst locals and longtime expats. Buy as much as you can, as handmade ceramic items such as plates, bowls, mugs, boxes and even some special pieces are available on a “1kg = US$ 1.5” basis. Are you ready?

October 8 – Youth and Rubbish VI

Youth and Rubbish VI Siem Reap

Youth and Rubbish VI is a unique event that aims to encourage the local youth, business owners and general public to keep the environment clean. October 12 – Spanish National Day at Nest Restaurant

Spanish National Day at Nest Restaurant

New in Siem Reap – Explosive Detection Dog Show

Siem Reap Explosive Detection Dog Show

Explosive Detection Dog Show is a new event brought to you by Norwegian People’s Aid, a non-profit organisation working on humanitarian disarmament projects globally. They have been using a special breed of dogs to detect landmines and other explosive devices remaining from the war since 1992. Now you have a chance to see up close how it works! These shows are ongoing.

Where: At their venue, near Siem Reap International Airport
When: Monday to Friday, 08:30-9:30am and 4-5pm
Cost: $7 per person, $3 for Cambodian nationals
