Our monthly event guide is back with plenty to keep you busy this April, with art exhibitions, dining events and, of course, the annual festivities for Khmer New Year.

We compiled a round-up of Siem Reap’s upcoming events to make it easy for you to plan ahead. Follow our Facebook page for the latest announcements and information on new events, and join our welcoming community.

Phare Circus, a social enterprise supporting education and performing arts training in Cambodia, will be performing two of their exhilarating shows during April. Book now for ‘Eclipse and ‘White Gold’.

Made in Cambodia Market is the intimate setting for free live performances of traditional dance and talented local musicians on its central stage. Check the schedule here. April performances are on Fridays & Saturdays from 6pm.

Public Holidays and Important Dates

April 14-16 – Khmer New Year: Khmer New Year, or ‘Chaul Chnam Thmey’ (which means ‘enter the new year’) is a three day national public holiday to allow Cambodians to enjoy festivities with their families, prepare special foods and visit temples. Angkor Sankranta new year celebrations, marked by exhibits of Khmer cultural arts, dances, games and martial arts, will take place in the Royal Gardens in front of Raffles this year. Expect Siem Reap to be in full party mode, especially after dark in Pub Street’s lively bars.

April 21 – Easter Sunday: Christians around the world rejoice in celebration of Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Easter time also represents the onset of Spring and chocolate eggs, given as gifts, are a symbol of new life and hope.

April 22 – Earth Day: Join together with others around the world to demonstrate support for the good of the environment through activities such as tree-planting, community clean-up events and more.

Social Calendar

April 1-18: A Smile of Hope

In support of AIM’s Lotus Kids Club, a grass roots project dedicated to support street-working children and their communities, Park Hyatt Siem Reap is hosting its annual donation drive. You can drop your donated weather-appropriate clothes, books, school supplies, bags, unused toiletries and canned goods and they will be hand-delivered to the families on 24 April. Donation carts are located inside the hotel lobby and in front of The Glasshouse until April 18.

April 2: Jon Sa Trinxa – Disco House Funk

Jon Sa Trinxa holds the longest DJ Residency on Ibiza at Sa Trinxa, Salinas Beach (since 1993) and is bringing Ibiza to Siem Reap’s very own beach club. If you like Disco, House, Funk, Indie, Dance and Ambient beats, come on down. Beatboutique’s Strangefruit & Cyril Grouvel complete the line-up.

April 1 – 30: DFS x Longines: Celebrating 50 years of Partnership

April 4 – 30: Star Light, Star Bright

As part of the Khmer New Year celebrations and Hyatt’s Global Month of Service, you are invited to hang a star for a special cause. Donate to your chosen charity by purchasing stars to hang in the iconic Banyan tree at The Courtyard of Park Hyatt Siem Reap.

April 5: From Mud Comes Beauty

Join artist Sara Da Riva at the opening of her exhibition. Discover the beauty of Lotus Leaf Art – combining the beauty of natural Lotus leaves and botanical illustration. The exhibition runs until June 21.

April 6: Heroes Come In All (Blood) Types And Sizes

Angkor Hospital for Children needs you!. Be a hero and come along to this special blood donation morning and help save lives.

April 7: Caritative Dinner in Support of the Lyli Association

Support for Lyli Association’s work with underprivileged girls and boys from nearby villages. On this special night you will be served a selection of appetizers, a choice of main courses and a fresh dessert, with all the proceeds going to the school.

April 7: Sunday Family Getaway

Lotus Blanc Hotel & Resort invites you and your family to experience their new poolside menu. April 12: Hypnotic Fist Technique LIVE at Hard Rock

Once again, Hard Rock Cafe Angkor is beset by the return of those who can touch the Phoenix without burning. The Hypnotic Fist Technique is touring to Siem Reap and will perform on April 12th at the Hard Rock Cafe. Complete with all new material and a few fun surprises, the time has come to get down with the sound quake the world with that hypnotic rap rock funk sound.

April 13-16: Street Food Festival

See you at the Royal Garden this Khmer New Year, as Le Merdien Angkor brings you the authentic taste of Khmer street food. From refreshing salads and soups, to stir-fry and grill, a delicious mix of sweet, sour and savoury.

April 18: World Heritage Day

Since 1983, April the 18th has been a day to celebrate cultural heritage. Every year, ICOMOS proposes a theme for the celebrations and activities and this year’s theme is Rural Landscapes. Cambodia’s dominant rural landscape makes it a playground for ecotourism experiences. Let’s explore the beautiful countryside of Siem Reap with one of these unique tours.

April 25: ANZAC Day Dawn Service

All are welcome to attend to pay respects for returned and fallen service men and women. This is a casual service but please dress respectfully as this is an active Buddhist temple. April 26: Opening of a “A Place for Us” exhibition

New opening at MIRAGE Contemporary Art Space:  “A Place for Us”, debut of Open Studio Kampot in Siem Reap. The exhibit showcases the work of seven emerging Cambodian artists based in Kampot. Celebrating the sacredness of the artists’ creative space, Open Studio brings the studio to the viewer, recreating the active creative workspace inside the gallery. Every piece unravels a story for the viewer, often autobiographical, from anecdotal to epic, uplifting to tragic to otherworldly.

April 27: Koningsdag (Kings Day) at Cambo Beach Club

Today is the Dutch King’s birthday and so this calls for a party. As whole of The Netherlands turns orange, Cambo Beach Club it’s throwing its own party here in Siem Reap. Wear something orange and you’ll get a free drink upon arrival.

April 26: A Stroke of Life – Painting for the Future

In conjunction with Siem Reap’s Tribe Art Gallery Cambodia, Park Hyatt Siem Reap will host a wine and cheese fundraiser in aid of Angkor Hospital for Children. Witness artist Carne Griffiths’ captivating and hypnotic artworks of calligraphy ink and tea as he undertakes a live painting session. Enjoy an evening of unlimited reds and whites with an array of cheese and charcuterie items, and take part in a raffle with amazing prizes. Carne Griffiths’ Elements exhibition will run at Tribe from April 28 – May 31.

April 27: Printmaking Workshop with Open Studio

Join the artists of Open Studio Cambodia for a printmaking workshop. You will learn how to make a linoleum block print with your own design (or with a design provided by us) and leave with a printed picture. All skill levels are welcome, all materials included.
