November 17: “Innocence”: A Street Photography Exhibition

“Ignorance does not equal innocence.” Mirage, a new art space / shared open studio / café hopes to promote the emerging Khmer photography and art scene through this photo exhibit. Given that photography is not widely considered an art form in the country, photographers care less about having physical copies of their work. Photographers Serey Siv and Michelle Rice Chan hope to change that with this gallery. Serey is co-founder of Mirage, while Michelle is an independent curator based in Hong Kong. They invite photographers to submit their entries by November 12 and the general public to view the exhibit on November 17. The event will also coincide with Asia’s longest running photo exhibition, the Angkor Photo Festival. Apart from promoting the Khmer art scene, this gives participants the opportunity to help out the community, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local NGO that supports Siem Reap-based artists. General enquiries may be sent to miragecollective@protonmail.com.
