We gather Siem Reap’s upcoming events into one handy listing at the start of every month, so you can easily follow the city’s happenings. Don’t forget to subscribe to our Facebook page for the latest information and new event announcements!

Phare Circus, Cambodia’s innovative social enterprise supporting education and performing arts training, has announced it’s October schedule of performances. Book now for the dynamic and high-octane performances in ‘Eclipse’, ‘Khmer Metal’ or ‘Same Same But Different’, all delivered with their trademark enthusiasm, set to high-energy live music.

Made in Cambodia Market invites you to enjoy free live shows at the performance space amid the colourful craft stalls. Check the schedule here. October performances include the Sophanna band on Friday evenings from 6pm and traditional dances from TlaiTno on Saturdays between 6-7pm. On Sunday evenings, see HEAK Nit band starting at 6pm. The philosophy behind the Made in Cambodia Market is to help create Khmer jobs; from the villagers producing the handicrafts to the sellers interacting with customers.

Public holidays

October 8-10: Pchum Ben

Pchum Ben is a unique Cambodian Buddhist festival. Buddhists use this time to remember, honour and present food offerings to ancestors. During this time, devotion is shown through ‘Vassa’, a kind of Buddhist Lent, and people will travel home to their families to visit relatives and attend special ceremonies at pagodas.

October 15: Commemoration Day of King’s Father

Cambodians honour their former king, Norodom Sihanouk, who passed away six years ago on this day.

October 23: Paris Peace Agreement Day

A public holiday commemorating the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements which marked the end of the decades-long turmoil inflicted by the Khmer Rouge since 1975 and ended warfare between Cambodia and Vietnam.

October 29: King Sihamoni Coronation Day

This is a day to commemorate King Norodom Sihamoni, who succeeded the throne on this day in 2004.

October 2: Power of Life – an exhibition by Chhan Dina & Takakazu Yamada

View 16 paintings and one sculpture by Cambodian artist Chhan Dina, and Japanese master Takakazu Yamada at the opening ceremony of this exhibition which runs until 2 November. There will be complimentary cocktails for attendees as well a traditional, sacred dance performance.

October 2: Opening “Backstreet Academy”

Backstreet Academy will open their new venue at Phare, The Cambodian Circus. The experiences on offer through their website encourage people, partners and tourists to visit and explore Siem Reap in a responsible and sustainable way, supporting local craftspeople and small businesses.

October 3: The Eye of Time + disastertourist

The Eye of Time is the solo-project of the French musician, Marc Euvrie. His new album Myth II: A Need To Survive is the second part of a trilogy of album releases about the path that humanity takes over the ages. The performance features visuals by disastertourist.

October 4: Diplomatico Launch with Arron Grendon

Party the night away with award-winning mixologist Arron Grendon. He’ll be mixing unique cocktails using the newly-launched single vintage of the Venezuelan rum brand, Diplomatico.

October 10: Opening of “The Kitchen Dining”

After renovations, Charcoal restaurant will be re-launched! On the original Wat Bo site, The Kitchen Dining will open, introducing a new concept to Siem Reap diners. Expect regional menus, inspired by the seven cities of Cambodia, served in a fine dining setting.

October 13: Dirty Soul Party

Dance the night away with live performances from Juliet K (from 7pm – 9pm) followed by Siem Reap’s resident DJ Sakura. Dress black to impress and consider booking a full weekend package, including a one night stay at Anjali Hotel and Sunday brunch.

October 15: Opening of “The Charcoal Entrecote”

The Charcoal Entrecôte, a new offering from the team behind Charcoal restaurant, is for the steak enthusiasts and celebrates its opening on October 15.

October 19: Shoppe @THE PARK

AIM – Lotus Kids Club is setting up a fundraising event supporting ethical business enterprises. Handicrafts, clothing, accessories and home décor from a selection of local businesses, including SCRAP and Senhoa, will be on sale. All of the sales generated here will go to individual shop owners, with donations made to AIM – Lotus Kids Club after the event. Half of the proceeds from the Wine & Cheese Night will be donated, too.

October 20: Cambodia on my mind – an exhibition by 11 Singaporean artists

In Singapore, they are known as the Clementi Group. Famous painters, calligraphers or sculptors, they have been gathering for decades at Clementi Coffee Shop, near the eponymous city park. This exhibition will portray Cambodia, as seen through the eyes of these artists.

October 21: Sunday Brunch & Pool

Sundays are for brunch, and for pool fun. Hunkaar Table & Lounge at Anjali by Syphon, combines the two and invites you to indulge in their brunch buffet and then chill out poolside in a hidden green oasis.

October 26 & 27: Re-opening of Amansara Roof Terrace Garden

Join Amansara Angkor for re-opening of the Roof Terrace Garden. Executive Chef Daniel grew up in California, a region with a rich Latin tradition, he then moved to the American Southwest and fully embraced the chilies and spices of Latin America. After several trips to Peru, Latin American and Mexican cuisines truly became his inspiration and still guide his culinary life today.

Every Monday: Khmer Community Class at Samadhi Yogashala & Wellness Center by Navutu Dreams
