Last Sunday, October 20, Alliance Française and Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort joined together to organize the first edition of the Alliance Française Golf Tournament at Siem Reap’s Phokeethra Country Club. The event gathered golf amateurs for a friendly tournament and beginners for a golf initiation.
9am, the sun was up and golfers were ready to tee off. During 4 hours, players confronted their skills and talent over elements at Phokeethra Country Club, an 18-hole golf course located in the heart of Cambodia’s countryside. In the meantime, a putting competition was held to discover golf with, at the end, an exciting prize for the winner.
When all players came back to the Club House, lunch was served and the participants sat spellbound until the final results of the tournament, hoping to be one of the lucky winners of gifts, generously offered by the event’s partners.
Serge Bellini, Director of Alliance Française, commented “It was a great edition, and we look forward to organizing a second edition in the future. I would like to sincerely thanks all participants but also Phokeethra Country Club for the organization and sponsors for supporting the tournament. This event was also important for us to celebrate Siem Reap and Fontainebleau’s sister city alliance since 2000, which reinforces bonds between Cambodia and France.”
Fabrice Ho, Golf Manager of Phokeethra Country Club, added “I am delighted to host Alliance Française at our golf course. The tournament was fantastic! It was also the opportunity to introduce the Asia Pacific Golf Resort of the Year 2020 award of Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort discerned by IAGTO last week in Marrakech, Morocco.”
