The Heritage Walk, where flair and heritage meet in the heart of Siem Reap

The Heritage Walk shopping mall, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Adding to the mix of retail rows in the gateway to the ancient city of Angkor, The Heritage Walk will rise in Siem Reap’s horizon. The Heritage Walk is a mall development that will be the biggest of its kind in the city and will offer a wide range of shopping and entertainment possibilities to tourists and local residents alike. This was officially announced last October 7 by the Metro Life Style Development Co., Ltd. The project is currently 80% complete and looks to open its doors by early 2018, with a soft opening to be expected in February.

the Heritage Walk will be Siem Reap’s biggest shopping complex.

The Heritage Walk will house the top Khmer and Western restaurants with big name brands gracing the Siem Reap landscape for the first time, such as Koi Thé (Taiwanese), Domino’s Pizza (Western), The Asian Kitchen (Chinese Fusion), Kintan Buffet (Japanese), Pho 24 (Vietnamese), Lotteria (Korean fast food) and Pepper Lunch (Japanese fast food), among many others. Old favorites will be present as well with Tous Les Jours, Swensen’s, The Hashi, Brown and Café Amazon choosing this mall as their second home.

In terms of entertainment, The Heritage Walk does not scrimp as it will offer a children’s playground as well as a 5-cinema movie theater by Legend Cinema with a capacity of 1,000 persons. Meanwhile, visitors will also be treated to a bookshop by Monument Books, beauty products stores and salons, souvenir shops and other retail options.

In terms of shopping options, the business development manager says that the project will focus on F&B and entertainment but with so numerous retail shops knocking on their doors, they may open the opportunity for this in the future.

Apart from the trendy dining options offered by this new destination, the developers see that its architecture will be the standout feature that will definitely change the scenery of this town. It boasts a modern and stylish design with distinct Khmer flair.

The Heritage Walk Project is designed by Five Arc, a respected Khmer architectural firm known for designing projects such as Mudita Spa Resort and Borei Angkor Resort & Spa and will place emphasis on nature in the concept. Various plants and trees will surround the complex and it will also feature wood decorations and water fountains to add a natural feeling to this retail compound. In fact, of the total 8,000 square meter area of The Heritage Walk, half of this will make way to provide guests a scenic experience with an ambiance of waterfalls, large trees and even an aerial swimming pool.

The Heritage Walk is located on National Road 6A, Sivatha Street Junction and is only 50 meters from Sokha Hotel and the Royal Gardens. Upon completion, the centre will boast 8,000 square meters of entertainment with approximately 100 shops that aim to fit every need or fancy.

The mall will be open from morning until midnight and will definitely add to the much needed variety of leisure options for tourists in Siem Reap who have previously only had Pub Street and hotel amenities as their only sources of fun. It will be a welcome addition to the streetscape for those visitors who want to experience things closer to home but want something luxuriously exotic at the same time.
