Each of Cambodia’s 23 provinces is divided into districts or srok (ស្រុក). Phnom Penh is divided into districts or khan (ខណ្ឌ).
Each of the provinces has a capital district.
The districts are sub-divided into communes or khums (ឃុំ). In Phnom Penh these sub-districts are called sangkat (សង្កត).
The communes are sub-divided into villages or phums (ភូមិ).
When it comes to Siem Reap, this province has 12 districts or srok.

Siem Reap (សៀមរាប)
Soutr Nikom (សូទ្រនិគម)
Srei Snam (ស្រីស្នំ)

The most famous of these districts is Siem Reap which is sub-divided into 10 communes.
Sloo Kraam (ស្លក្រាម)

Kook Chak (គោកចក)
Sala Kamreuk (សាលាកំរើក)

Additionally to these sub-divisions there are also cities and towns, called municipalities or krongs (ក្រុង). These take over some responsibilities of the districts and communes on the area they cover. All these municipalities have an elected board and mayor.
