For the third time in 6 years, a fire erupted at Siem Reap’s Wat Polanka Market. The fire started on March 2nd 2017, around 1am and spread rapidly, destroying all 137 stalls of the market. The fire was probably caused by an electrical malfunction.
In November 2011, a fire destroyed 27 riverside stalls at Wat Polanka Market. This fire was also caused by an electrical malfunction;
In September 2013, another fire destroyed 4 stalls and damaged at least a hundred others at Wat Polanka Market, again caused by an electrical problem.

I passed by the market today and took a few pictures from the aftermath. Some of the stalls have moved to the riverside.
